Filipino Sign Language Learning Program

The Filipino Sign Language Learning Program provides students with basic competency for sign language communication. Alongside seminars and workshops on visual-gestural communication and community involvement activities, FSLLP classes help students arrive at a greater understanding of the Filipino Deaf community’s unique language and culture.

Course

The Filipino Sign Language Learning Program (FSLLP) places an emphasis on every aspect of student growth and development, while meeting state requirements. Suitable class sizes and exceptional, qualified teachers allow us to offer a comfortable and inclusive educational environment, while ensuring each student receives the individualized attention and support they need.

FSL levels

Note that only FSL 1 and FSL 2 will be offered in Virtual Benilde (ViBe) this term. Follow DLS-CSB School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies on SDEAS Facebook for updates about virtual FSL 3.

FSL 1

Basic Signing familiarizes learners with the nuances of visual gestural communication and teaches them basic phrases for functional communication with the deaf.

FSL 2

Intermediate Signing expands the learners’ vocabulary and enables them to comfortably and fluently express themselves in Filipino Sign Language.

FSL 3

Advanced Signing exposes the learners to Deaf idioms, poertry, and humor to facilitate a deeper understanding of FSL as the vernacular preferred and used by most members of the Filipino Deaf community.
