Filipino Sign Language Learning Program

Filipino Sign Language Learning Program

The Filipino Sign Language Learning Program (FSLLP) is a non-degree offering of the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. The program is designed to develop foundational to advanced competencies in Filipino Sign Language while fostering an informed appreciation of the language, culture, and identity of the Filipino Deaf community.

Grounded in Deaf-centered pedagogy and inclusive education, the FSLLP combines structured language instruction with seminars on visual-gestural communication and guided community-oriented learning experiences. Through this approach, learners gain both linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness essential to meaningful and respectful engagement with the Deaf community.

Program Structure and Delivery

The FSLLP runs for 14 weeks, inclusive of program orientation and graduation activities. Each Filipino Sign Language (FSL) level is offered at a fee of PHP 3,500 per level.

Classes are held once a week for one hour and thirty minutes (1.5 hours). Class schedules are arranged to accommodate learners’ availability, subject to faculty assignment and class capacity. The course is offered through Virtual Benilde (ViBe). Updates on registration schedules and available class schedule options are announced through the official SDEAS Facebook page.
