Young Deaf Summit 2025: Empowering Deaf Youth to Lead Change
On January 25, 2025, the Young Deaf Summit (YDS) 2025 brought together young Deaf leaders, educators, and advocates at the ARG Theater, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde for a day of learning, inspiration, and community-building. With the theme “Empowering Deaf Youth: Leading Change for the Future,” the summit emphasized leadership, education, and the power of representation in the Deaf community.
A Gathering of Deaf Youth and Advocates
The summit welcomed 70 participants, including Grade 11 and 12 students, who engaged in discussions, interactive sessions, and leadership workshops designed to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to drive change in their communities.
The event began with an opening ceremony led by Silent Steps members, followed by a welcome message from Dr. Marian Patricia Bea Francisco, setting the stage for an empowering and insightful day.
Inspiring Change Through Representation and Leadership
One of the highlights of the event was an inspirational message from Ms. Ana Kristina Arce, a well-respected Deaf advocate, who encouraged the youth to embrace their identities and take active roles in their communities.
The keynote address, delivered by Ana Dominique Limbaring, LPT, explored the crucial role of education in nurturing Deaf leaders. She emphasized the significance of diversity and representation in leadership, inspiring attendees to strive for inclusivity and excellence.
Lessons in Leadership: Turning Challenges into Opportunities
A panel discussion titled “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities: Lessons in Leadership and Skills from College” brought together Deaf professionals Jeselou San Buenaventura, Ejay Boy P. Tena, Kristopher Lee Ascano, and Romulo Porral, with Mr. Bronson Escalderon as the moderator. The panelists shared their experiences in overcoming barriers, developing leadership skills, and pursuing careers that make a difference in the Deaf community.
Adding to the event’s engaging atmosphere, Silent Steps members delivered a special performance, showcasing the power of Deaf culture and artistic expression.
Exploring Opportunities and Building Connections
The afternoon session featured an Open House, where students explored various educational and career opportunities. The Benilde Admissions Office also conducted a presentation to guide students on their journey toward higher education.
The summit concluded with a heartfelt closing message by Ms. Gerrell Angeles, followed by carnival games organized by the BDA Team, creating a fun and inclusive space for participants to bond and celebrate their shared experiences.

The Young Deaf Summit 2025 was more than just a gathering—it was a movement that reinforced the importance of empowerment, education, and leadership within the Deaf community.
